There are two primary locations for searching for marriage records in Hardin County. They are the Probate Court in Kenton and the archives in Bowling Green. There are several types of records that can be located.
At the court house in Kenton the records located there run from 1833 to present. These records are indexed so when searching you can find all people with a particular surname and when they were married. This is especially good when looking for a uncommon surname in a particular area. Be sure to look for variances in spelling when doing this search.
The archives in Bowling Green has several types of records including the index (1833-1959), records (1833-1935), marriage and minister license record (1833-1884) and Marriage Returns (1852-1859). All of these records are located on microfilm.
Be certain to make copies when looking at these records. Don't ignore the witnesses, because they often provide valuable clues to relationships.
Tomorrow I will profile a library in the county. Have a great day.
